Lower Pottsgrove Township is a township in Montgomery County The name "Pottsgrove" originated from the 18th century estate of John Potts, who built a stone mansion in Stowe  .Pottsgrove Township formed in 1807 and was subdivided into Upper and Lower Pottsgrove Townships in 1889
The population was 12,059 at the 2010 census, .85.3% White, 10.1% Black or African American, 0.1% Native American, 1.6% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, and 2.4% were two or more races. 2.7% of the population were of Hispanic or Latino ancestry
