The Wissahickon Historical Society's purpose is to preserve the local historical buildings, artifacts and folklore of the historic Wissahickon Valley.
Tours of the Whitpain Public School 1895 building are on the first Sunday of the month from 1 to 4 PM, and by appointment. Member docents will be available to give tours. Our library is open to the public by appointment.
The PUBLIC IS WELCOME to attend all events! Programs start at 7:30 PM unless otherwise indicated.
Wissahickon Valley Historical Society
The Wissahickon Valley Historical Society has an exciting year planned and we wouldlike you to join us!
WVHS, founded in 1975, serves the Borough of Ambler and the Townships of LowerGwynedd and Whitpain. We are interested in promoting the preservation of the localhistory and architecture of these historic communities.
The Society¡¦s headquarters are located in the 1895 Whitpain School House at the cornerof Skippack Pike and School Road in Blue Bell. A museum and research library ismaintained there.
Presently WVHS is working on the following projects:
ƒÞ continuing the restoration of the 1895 School House
ƒÞ cataloguing all library and museum items
ƒÞ conducting research on local historic resources and educating the public and
municipal officials about them
ƒÞ increasing student participation and membership support.
